About Me

Jo Louise Seltzer, science writerScience drives our changing world, and it is increasingly important that the public becomes scientifically literate.

In my writing I try to make science ‘reader-friendly.” I want people to finish my articles feeling that they have learned something without undue effort.

My articles often start with a question. For example, I wrote “Look, it’s another ‘Hillbilly Speed Bump’” after noticing dead armadillos on the side of the road here in Missouri. I had to do a double-take and ask if I was really seeing an armadillo this far north. I was, and the question led to an article.
